Step 1: Contact the Title Research Section

Reach out to the Title Research Section in Carson City to request authorization and documentation for a bonded title. Call (775) 684-4810 to initiate your request.

Step 2: Complete the Affidavit for Bonded Vehicle Title

Fill out sections one and two of form VP 271 provided by the DMV. Then, schedule a vehicle inspection by a sworn law enforcement officer, a DMV-authorized business or at a DMV full-service office.

Step 3: Submit your documentation

After completing the Affidavit and inspection, send all paperwork to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, Title Research Section. Be sure to include the following documents:

• The Affidavit for Bonded Title
• Copies of all ownership documents
• Four pictures of the vehicle (front, back and sides)

Step 4: Purchase a title bond

The DMV will review your documentation and respond with additional requirements, including the necessary surety bond amount.
